Electric toothbrushes include rotary toothbrushes, sonic toothbrushes and ultrasonic toothbrushes. While the former usually have round brushes that rotate alternately from left to right, sonic toothbrushes are equipped with elongated, vibrating heads. With 20,000 to 40,000 vibrations per minute, they achieve significantly higher mechanical movements than rotary brushes. Ultrasonic toothbrushes exceed this performance many times over and are also a completely different technology. As a rule, your dog's teeth should be cleaned at least two to three times a week with the emmi-pet ultrasonic toothbrush to prevent tartar and plaque build-up. This ensures regular removal of plaque and also helps with hard-to-reach areas. Incidentally, vets recommend daily tooth brushing. 

Getting your dog used to the ultrasonic toothbrush can vary from dog to dog. However, we recommend following the steps below to get your dog used to the toothbrush:

1. Slow introduction: start by using the toothbrush without the ultrasonic function. Let your dog sniff and lick the toothbrush to give him a chance to familiarise himself with the device.

2. Short and regular applications: Brush only a few teeth at first and gradually increase the duration and area of tooth cleaning. Brush your dog's teeth daily to get him used to dental care.

3. Reward and praise: Praise and reward your dog after each application to make dental care a positive experience.

It usually takes dogs about one to two weeks to get used to the ultrasonic toothbrush. However, this depends on your dog and the regularity of the dental care routine.
