"I’m Abby, I have been a dog groomer since I was 16 years old and opened up my own salon just
over a year ago, in the middle of the lockdown. I adore grooming all breeds but especially wool
coats! I love teddy cuts and like to try out new styles whenever I can. I could talk about dog
grooming, products and equipment all day long so if you ever want any advice, I’m always happy
to help out fellow groomers and owners!"

‘I started competing in 2019. I’m delighted to say I have placed in every class I have entered.
My biggest industry achievement to date is winning overall groomer of the day in Madra Mania and
being selected from hundreds of groomers to compete on Pooch Perfect’
From starting out my career as a joiner when I left school, I took advantage of being made
redundant in the hardship of the recession. I turned my love and admiration for animals into a
career. I started out visiting salons and getting a feel for the dog grooming industry, working
from home and quietly building my portfolio. An opportunity came up to be salon manager for one
of the biggest UK pet stores in the industry. From there I worked as salon manager in dog
grooming for two years, I was then asked to open and grow a new salon.
During this time I completed City & Guilds L3 diploma in Dog Grooming. After a further two years the passion and
drive inside me to open my own business grew stronger and I finally took the best risk of my
life. I started small, working from home and with the help of Invest N.I I opened my own salon
in Cookstown. The success of the salon continues to grow. Proudly two years ago I teamed up with
iPet Network and I have now opened a grooming school in the heart of Mid-Ulster alongside our
very busy dog grooming business.
We offer a host of formal qualifications in the dog grooming
and pet industry. Our most popular course is L3 Diploma in Dog Grooming which is delivered
through iPet Network and regulated through OFQUAL. Having years of knowledge and skills behind
me I passionately enjoy teaching some very talented students achieve their goals. As for me I
believe you never stop learning, I continue to attend seminars to gain knowledge from the best
in the industry alongside competing in competitions and also being part of a team who run N.I
Grooming Challenge and N.I Grooming Championship.
