Oscar Frank's Universal KW Soft Slicker Brush Range

These brushes are a true classic among the slickers. Thanks to their eye-catching packaging and their authentic German design, they have been a popular product for many years now. A universal brush for every dog that curries, combs and brushes in one operation. Manufactured of solid antirust and hygenic plastic material.

The Frank’s Universal Standard Medium Slicker features a slightly curved brush pad and is suitable for every dog breed except short-haired ones. With its finer, more flexible pins, this slicker is perfect for the daily and regular maintenance of thinner or long coats that don't have a lot of tangles. It is also ideal for puppies or older dogs with sensitive skin.

The Frank’s Universal Grande de Luxe Large Slicker features a slightly flatter brush pad and is suitable for every dog breed except short-haired ones. With its finer, more flexible pins, this slicker is perfect for the daily and regular maintenance of thinner or long coats that don't have a lot of tangles. It is also ideal for puppies or older dogs with sensitive skin.

Use Instructions

Daily and Regular Maintenance:

  • Standard Medium Slicker: Ideal for small to medium-sized breeds with long, soft, and fine coats and smaller brushing areas.
  • Grande de Luxe Large Slicker: Ideal for bigger breeds or larger brushing areas.

Brushing Technique: Gently brush and pull the brush towards the handle (don’t twist your wrist). Let the pins glide through the hair and repeat if necessary. Brush without putting downward pressure on the skin.

Layered Brushing: To get the best result, brush the coat in layers from the hair tips right down to the skin, starting at the bottom of your four-legged friend’s body and finishing at the top. This is especially recommended for difficult long, double, or curly coats. For dogs with a shorter coat, you can also brush against the hair growth.

Long Coats: Gently brush with a light, long stroke, brushing beyond the ends of the hair tip to avoid static and breakage. Start at the bottom by parting the coat horizontally and holding the unbrushed part up with your free hand. Work methodically upwards, keeping your wrist straight to avoid contact with the dog’s skin.

Curly Coats: Brush in the direction of the coat growth and then against it using light, long strokes.

Wiry Coats: Brush in the direction of the coat growth, then against it if necessary to remove mats and dead hair.

For Dematting: Gently place the brush pins on the mat with a tapping movement and tease a few hairs from the mat by pulling the brush towards you. Repeat until the mat is gone. Brush without putting downward pressure on the skin.

Preventing Mats and Tangles: Regularly bathe, condition, and brush the dog’s coat daily.
